First Turf and Ornamental Corp. (First Turf) is thrilled to welcome Cody Laux to the team. A longtime customer of First Turf, Cody brings a wealth of experience to his new role as Sales Representative in the Western Ohio and Michigan territories. Cody’s role will not only focus on sales in the territory, but also on strengthening First Turf’s presence in the Ohio and Michigan markets.
A Dublin Ohio native, Cody began his turf career as a youngster at Muirfield Village Golf Club. After completing a few courses in accounting at Ohio State University, Cody soon realized that his heart was in turf and promptly switched to Turfgrass Science. While at Ohio State, Cody completed internships at Muirfield Village Golf Club, Cog Hill Golf Club, and Scioto Country Club. Post graduation, Cody first returned to Scioto Country Club and
then moved on to become the Senior Assistant at Longue Vue Club in Pittsburgh. Following the 2021 US Amateur Championship, Cody accepted the superintendent position at Agawam Hunt Club in Providence, RI.
After four wonderful years at Agawam Hunt Club, Cody and his wife, Julia, welcomed their first child, Mallory, in June of 2025. Excited about their new journey as parents, Cody and Julia soon decided that an opportunity to be near both of their families back in Dublin, OH and to raise their little girl as an Ohio State, Cleveland Browns, and Columbus Blue Jackets fan would truly be a dream come true. When the opportunity to join the team at First Turf arose, Cody could not pass it up. Here was a chance to not only return to Ohio with his family, but a great opportunity to work with a trusted company that he knows well and respects, and in an industry that he loves.
“I am incredibly passionate about golf in the state of Ohio, as well as Michigan, and look forward to using my experience to assist superintendents in any way possible,” stated Cody.
The First Turf family is excited and honored to have another past customer join the team, and proud to continue to prioritize the company tenets of Service, Knowledge, and Experience.
